Spring in San Diego has gone to the dogs….literally! The season is chock full of dog events and fun adventures that will get you and your pooch out of the house for some fun in the sun!

Celebrate the first day of Spring on March 20th at Paws in the Park. Presented by the City of Solana Beach Parks and Recreation Commission, Paws in the Park promises “A tail wagging day for pets and their people”! Bring your furry family member out to La Colonia Park Sunday, March 20th from 11:00am to 3:00pm and enjoy a number of fun activities including a Leash Your Fitness demonstration, where you can learn exercise routines you can practice with your dog! Watch disc dogs, carting demonstrations and meet representatives from local rescue organizations.

On Sunday, April 9th, bring your pooch to Balboa Barks, an event to benefit Canine Companions for Independence. Formerly known as Woofstock, this annual event never disappoints! Participate in and learn about a variety of dog sports including agility and flyball. You and your pooch can play on the doggie playground, shop till you drop and enjoy live entertainment and demonstrations from some of San Diego’s finest Canine Athletes!

On May 7th, be sure to check out the San Diego Humane Society Walk for Animals, a 3/4 mile walk for people and their pets to raise money to support the efforts of the Humane Society. The event features a pancake breakfast for participants, along with live music, shopping and many adoptable dogs. Register for the walk online and you and your pooch can help support the cause!

To get the most out of all of the fun dog events this spring, be sure to brush up on your pooch’s obedience. Mastering things like leash manners and social skills will ensure attending these events is fun and stress free!
